Welcome to ITFMA

The IT Financial Management profession was founded when the IT Financial Management Association (ITFMA) was established in 1988. For the first time, there was a source of relevant literature, extensive educational programs, and a network of financial specialists to address IT financial management. ITFMA is the only association dedicated to standardizing the principles and practices related to the financial disciplines and tools used to financially manage Information Technology (IT) organizations. ITFMA is the national leader in the education of IT financial management professionals and the only provider of certification in the various financial disciplines of IT financial management. Our "Journal of IT Financial Management" is the only magazine devoted to this field and this website is the only site focused on education, research and publications in this field.

Upcoming Events

What's New

Ghost Sightings at March '08 Conference Hotel. The hotel, built in 1859, is San Antonio's vault for vanquished spirits, with at least 32 different apparitions. Among them is a maid, Sally White, murdered by her husband and has seen walking in the corridors. She is clad in an old, long gray skirt with a  bandana around her forehead and carrying towels which she never delivers. Captain Richard King, founder of the King Ranch, appears entering his room, the King Suite. A figure of a man clad in a buckskin jacket and gray trousers appears by a bed and asking someone in the room "Are you gonna stay or are you gonna go?" three times. A lady sits knitting in the lobby and wears a blue dress and a beret with a tassel. An employee asks" "Are you comfortable…may I get you something?" The lady replies "no" in an unfriendly tone and disappears. Why the Menger for these supernatural escapades? The hotel is just steps from the Alamo so the land lends itself to folklore. But like all tourists resting their heads in the hotel, these souls are harmless.

ITIL Financial Management Conference. Due to the increasing popularity and relevance of ITIL to IT Financial Management, ITFMA will conduct its inaugural educational program on ITIL Financial Management at their June 2008 multi-conference program in Riverside, CA. The Telecom Financial Management Conference will be changed from three days to two days to make room for the scheduled one day conference on ITIL Financial Management. In addition, there will be several half-day seminars that will cover ITIL financial management standards, procedures, issues and solutions.

Evening Program at June '08 Conferences. For the first time, those registered to attend seminars on Monday-Tuesday, June 2-3 at the Riverside, CA conference program will have the opportunity to sign-up for a special evening program of additional education and peer networking opportunities. The cost per day will be $150 for seminar registrants. Spouses/children are invited to attend the dinner/social hours for $75 per person. The 6-hour evening program begins with a 3-hour seminar at 4:00p.m., followed by a hosted bar social hour, followed by a lavish buffet dinner, followed by a final hosted bar social hour.

Menger Hotel: March 2008 Conference Site. The Historic Menger Hotel is a national historic landmark. It was established in 1859 and is San Antonio's most historic hotel. This well-maintained 148-year-old property is the oldest continually operating hotel west of the Mississippi, and it truly captures the vivaciousness of this city more than any other one. Traditional architecture and décor combined with talk of its own ghost make this a favorite choice of loyal patrons who appreciate the superb location and historical flavor. It is only half a block from The Alamo, across the street from Alamo Plaza, and a block from the River Walk and the River Center Mall (130 shops). History buffs will find the most enjoyment here, with period appointments and even attire reenactments part of the scene. Public areas here are the real charmers.

The hotel's classical design is attributed to John Fries, San Antonio's first architect of note, who is credited with repairing the shattered ruin of the Alamo in 1850. The main building is graced with ornate wrought-iron galleries and striped awnings and is linked to a modern, balconied five-story addition. The original entrance off the Plaza has beautiful leaded glass panels flanking the old brass doors. The 3-story Victorian lobby is the original 1859 lobby of the Menger. This anachronistic lobby looks as it did in the filming of the 1956 movie "Giant" with Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean, displaying Corinthian columns, marble floors topped with a glorious Oriental rug, antique furnishings, carved ceilings, a green marble fireplace, grand piano, potted palms, relaxing classical music in the background, and period sitting areas graced with tapestries and priceless antique accents and paintings. Many pieces of furniture are believed to have been purchased by William Menger in the 1860s. Many hallways are museum-like, graced with pre-1900 black-and-white photos. The famous Colonial Room Restaurant reflects charming Greek Revival décor and offers breakfast and lunch buffets. Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, General Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Menger's famous mango ice cream has remained on the menu for over 100 years. The historic bi-level Menger Bar is a replica of the House of Lords Pub in London with its paneled ceiling of cherrywood, booths and beveled mirrors from France. It was in this bar in 1898 that Teddy Roosevelt recruited many of his Rough Riders, the first American volunteer cavalry that fought in the Spanish-American War. Specialties of the bar include mint juleps served in silver tumblers and hot rum toddies. White rockers line the fountained courtyard, where lovely gardens provide shade and relaxation around the largest heated plunge pool. Dine in this lush tropical courtyard where Oscar Wilde strolled in 1882. The modest spa offers a fitness center, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, solarium, massage and herbal wraps.

All guest rooms have free high-speed Internet access and there is wireless access in the lobby area. You have a choice of sleeping rooms in the old or new sections of the hotel. The 154 units in the old Victorian section are small but have high ceilings. They are appointed with traditional pieces, assorted antiques, and high canopied and two-poster beds. Pedestal sinks stand in tiled baths and suites have French doors that open to covered wrought-iron balconies. Rooms in the newer wing are considerably larger and more contemporary, with two double or twin beds in most and functional combination baths. Many of these on the top floors have been updated with new carpets, tiles and baths, as well as some furniture replacements, and these should be requested if available. Rooms facing the Alamo and balconied rooms facing the courtyard cost no more than others and can be requested. Read more about the Menger Hotel at www.mengerhotel.com.

Mission Inn Hotel & Spa: June 2008 Conference Site. The Historic Mission Inn & Spa is a national historic and architectural landmark, occupying an entire city square block in the heart of downtown Riverside, CA and just 45-minutes from Disneyland. The Inn began as a 12-room adobe boarding house in 1876. In 1902 it was expanded to a 4-story U-shaped hotel enclosing a large central courtyard. Over the next 30 years, three more wings were added. Unique architectural sections of the hotel include the large Music Room, the Catacombs with its niches and chambers, the Spanish Patio reminiscent of Spanish castle courtyards, the Spanish Art Gallery, Author's Row suites, the Rotunda Wing featuring an open-air 5-story spiral staircase, the Galleria Art Gallery, the Famous Flyers Wall (a monument to pioneers in aviation), the St. Francis Chapel with seven impressive Tiffany stained glass windows, and the Court of the Orient. Many of these unique areas will be used for our meeting rooms and evening receptions during the June seminars and conferences. It will be the first time that you will be attending classes and surrounded by priceless paintings, statuary, tapestries and antique accents. So bring your camera because your colleagues back at work will not believe your description of your experiences and this unforgettable collection of arcades and gardens, turrets and domes, flying buttresses and spiraling staircases, catacombs and carillon towers. The hotel is also about fine art and Spanish cannons, stained glass and ceramic tile, saints and dragons, bells and wrought iron. Within the hotel is the Mission Inn Museum featuring permanent exhibits from the Mission Inn Collection as well as frequent temporary exhibits.

Guest rooms have Internet access and wireless access is available in the lobby and by the pool. Famous hotel visitors have included President Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Carnegie, Sarah Bernhardt, and members of the royal houses of Sweden, Russia and Japan. The hotel offers complimentary round-trip shuttle service from the Ontario International Airport, 18 miles from the hotel. Read more about the Mission Inn & Spa at www.missioninn.com.

Speaking of the cost of education, Derek Bok said: "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

Free Conference Passes. By attending the last session at any ITFMA conference in 2008, you can win one of at least seven free passes to any of our 3-day conferences in 2009.
