Purpose of Each Category of Sessions

The Financial World of Information Technology Program held on August 10-14 is the only “must attend” program for IT financial management practitioners as this conference program offers the most sessions and networking opportunities related to the financial planning, acquisition, management, and evaluation of IT assets and expenditures. It is the most highly regarded IT financial conference of its kind because it is conducted by many of the leading experts and attended by so many practitioners of IT financial management.

The IT Strategic and Financial Planning, Budgeting and Reporting Sessions are the first known curriculum of its kind. It is filled with case studies and hands-on experiences regarding trends, models, techniques, best practices, and new ideas for effective IT financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting and cost control. You should come away with a number of good ideas for improving your current practices and procedures.

The Government & University IT Financial Management Sessions are specifically designed to educate those in the government and at universities by those with hands-on experience in IT financial management issues and practices applicable to the government sector. The agenda is a combination of sessions conducted by government and university IT financial practitioners and some of the best sessions applicable to government, university and business IT organizations. The agenda is mainly designed by and for those in government and universities.

The Technology Business Management Sessions address the full scope of financial and non-financial strategies, principles, disciplines, techniques and best practices of managing IT as a business – a concept going back to a 1991 article by the founder of ITFMA who said, “…I/S [Information Systems] must be run like any other business that serves a client community if it is ever going to be recognized by its clients as a cost-effective and efficient organization.”

The IT Financial Management Best Practices Sessions bring together the vast experiences of practitioners and leading experts with experiences from best practice organizations. The material covers best practices and procedures in the design, implementation and application of the various financial tools, techniques and disciplines used in the major areas of IT financial management.

The IT Expense Management Tools and Techniques Sessions address the principles, practices, tools and techniques used to plan, control and evaluate expenses in all sizes of IT organizations as used by practitioners and leading consultants.

The IT Asset Management Sessions bring together the vast experiences of practitioners and leading experts with experiences from best practice organizations. It provides speakers who are highly experienced experts in this field and creates a forum of asset and expense management practitioners to discuss a wide spectrum of tools and techniques used for investment analysis, contract negotiation, acquisition, control and disposal for IT asset management.

The IT Performance Management and Benchmarking Sessions provide a unique forum for executives and practitioners to discuss their hot issues, challenges and solutions. The material covers practices and procedures in the design, implementation and application of the various tools and techniques in identifying, measuring, monitoring, understanding and evaluating the key drivers of IT performance.

The IT Financial Issues for Senior Executives and Their Direct Reports Sessions provides a comprehensive overview of the major financial disciplines every CFO, CEO, CIO, Director, Financial Manager, Controller and their direct reports should understand to perform his or her responsibilities. There is no university or educational program that offers such a complete agenda for IT organizations that addresses the planning, controlling, pricing, evaluating and decision making aspects of IT financial management. About the Hotel

Pfister Hotel Lobby

The conference program will be held at the elegant historic Pfister Hotel located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. The hotel room rate is $195 for single/double occupancy, and the government rate will be the prevailing 2021 government per diem. To make room reservations, call (414) 273-8222 and mention IT Financial Management (ITFMA) to get the discounted room rate. Hotel check-out is 12:00 noon. Reservations must be made by June 11 after which reservations will be accepted on a space available basis. Sleeping rooms offer a choice of modern or historic accommodations. Some have elegant four-poster beds and others have lake and city views.

The national historic landmark Pfister Hotel built in 1893 quickly became the “Grand Hotel of the West,” and has been the premier accommodation downtown in Milwaukee ever since. In the 1960’s it was renovated to its original beauty and a new 23-story guest room tower was added. For over 40 years, the hotel has received the AAA Four Diamond Award, which designates it as one of the top 3% of hotels in the U.S. The ornate three-story lobby with dazzling chandeliers is dominated by a grand marble staircase at one end and a massive fireplace at the other. The lobby ceiling sky-blue scene of ethnically diverse cherubs was painted in 1932 to recall the view through the original vaulted open skylight that had since been over-painted. The hotel’s most unique asset is the impressive array of artwork, which includes the largest collection of Victorian art at any hotel in the world. You can explore and learn about this art collection with a self-guided tour or a scheduled tour with Rosy Petri, the hotel’s current artist-in-residence. Some of the hotel amenities include Pfister chocolate bars, complimentary shoe shine service, free champagne in the Spa Lobby and hammam steam showers.

ITFMA will be using the detailed woodwork enhanced Hall of Presidents for meeting rooms as well as sections of the elegant Grand Ballroom with its crystal chandeliers and Victorian art for meetings, meals and cocktail hours.

Atop the hotel on the 23rd floor are the cocktail lounge, Blu, and the “swimming pool in the clouds,” both boast with the best views in town – breathtaking vistas of Milwaukee’s cityscape and nearby Lake Michigan. Blu offers the “city’s best happy hour” 5:00-7:00p.m. each weekday where you can try their signature martini and award-winning bloody mary.

Hotel’s Mason Street Grill has live music and serves wood-grilled steaks, seafood, grill fare and house-made desserts by their nationally recognized pastry chef. An elegant Sunday brunch is served in the European-styled Rouge Ballroom with its crystal chandeliers and marble accents.

The hotel is only 15 minutes from General Mitchell International Airport and 10 minutes from Amtrak Station. GO Riteway (www.goriteway.com and 800/236-5450) is the exclusive shared-ride shuttle service at the Milwaukee airport. Taxis are outside of Baggage Claim 3 (cross Baggage Claim roadway and follow the sign to the taxi lane behind the car rental booth). Uber and Lyft are next to Baggage Claim 2 (exit Baggage Claim area and follow “Exit to Ticketing” signs).
