IT Financial Management Approaches and How They Correlate With Key Measures of Success
Ray Terlaga, IT Director

Some IT organizations choose to recover costs with allocations. Others use chargebacks. Others live entirely on their own budget without cost recovery. That's just one of a number of choices that organizations make in their approach to IT financial management--choices that are sometimes explicitly made and sometimes inherited from historical precedent. Through a series of surveys we looked at how some of these choices correlated with key measures of success, ranging from perceived client satisfaction to quality of work life within IT. Survey participants were either CIOs or IT financial managers; organizations involved covered a range of industries as well as public sector. With this data, and with your participation, we'll try to uncover who is happy...and who is not.
